The Y of Klamath Falls is the only YMCA in all of Klamath County. I have been a member of this establishment off and on for many years and it has slowly evolved over time to cater to the latest athletic and family-oriented trends. For example, there were once two racquetball courts located inside for many years but were replaced about 10 years ago with a family fun room and a spinning class and expanded weights and exercise machines room upstairs. The original daycare area on the main floor has been replaced with treadmills, stairclimbers, exercise bikes and rowing machines. The daycare area is much smaller now but two things still remain in the past 40-plus years: the swimming pool and the basketball gym.
When you look at the building from the outside, not much has changed in appearance since it was built, most likely in the early 1960s. The past five-to-ten years has seen the addition of an outdoor basketball court, a volleyball pit, a pavilion for a family BBQ, a walking trail and a newer playground for kids. There are also two soccer fields that have been here as long as I can remember.
This YMCA is very popular with the locals and it's common to see families coming and going throughout the day to experience one or more of the YMCA services.
