This marker is on the south side of Blackheath Grove close to the junction with Blackheath Village and opposite the raiway station.

The mark is made from a soft, white stone and is inscribed:

this point is the
boundary of the
boro of Lewisham

Replaced by the
Blackheath Society
1991

Ten feet north of the point would have placed the boundary in the centre of Blackheath Grove si it was moved to the side so as not to interfere with traffic.

The marker is not genuine but was placed here in 1991 as the inscription says.

The boundary was between Lewisham and Greenwich.
