Kiwanis Falls Park has seen better days. This small park is now maintained by the City Parks Department and no longer has a waterfall, as it once did when dedicated to the city by then-Kiwanis member, Keith Cob0 on Aug. 16th, 1980.
Over the years, the waterfall was constantly malfunctioning and was regularly vandalized by people who would put soap in the water and make it bubble up all over. After years of dealing with constant repairs and vandalism issues, the Kiwanis organization turned the ownership of this small park over to the city to maintain. In 2005 the city decided to rip out the waterfall mechanics and convert it to a low-maintenance park. Since that time, bushes and small trees have moved in and taken over the area, giving this park a sad and neglected look and hinting to visitors of what was once here. Klamath Falls no longer has a 'falls' to represent its name. The original falls existed in nearby Link River but were reduced greatly in size due to a dam that was put in in the early 1900s.
As a lifetime local of Klamath, I may have to volunteer to clean this little park and make it look decent again.
There is a newspaper article that highlights this park's history that can be read in more detail here.
