This an old German telephone booth converted into a "book booth" in front of the town hall and library of the small village of Maschen. There is a "take one, bring one" policy. One of the books actually is also a traditional Geocache (GC21M52).

Das "Hamburger Abendblatt" vom 9. November 2009 schreibt dazu:
"Die kleinste Bücherei im Landkreis Harburg hat am Sonnabend ihren Betrieb aufgenommen: Sie ist in einer ausgedienten gelben Telefonzelle vor dem Dorfhaus in Maschen untergebracht. Die etwa zwei Kubikmeter große Selbstbedienungsbibliothek funktioniert nach dem Prinzip: 'Nimm ein Buch, bring' ein Buch'. [...]
Vier Partner haben die Minibibliothek schließlich geschaffen: die Gemeinde Seevetal, der Maschener Ortsrat, die Bücherei und das Jugendzentrum. Büchereien in Telefonzellen sind nichts Neues: In Buxtehude gibt es das seit dem Jahr 2003. [...]
Spender haben am Sonnabend die Erstausstattung der Maschener Büchertelefonzelle mitgebracht: Literaturfreunde finden jetzt 55 Bücher vor - etwa 300 passen hinein."

"Hamburg Evening Post" of November 9th, 2009:
"The smallest library of Harburg county opened on last Saturday: located in an old, out-of-order telephone booth in front of the community building of Maschen [a rural district of Seevetal, the county capital, just south of Hamburg]. The two square meters big self-service library works according to the principle: take a book, bring a book. [I then skipped the boring politicians' blah-blah that is in the newspaper article ;-)]
Four sponsors helped the idea of a mini library to come true: Seevetal county authorities, the community board of Maschen, the local library in Seevetal, and the youth center. Libraries in old telephonem booths are not new though: In the city of Buxtehude, they have one since the year of 2003. [politicans' blah-blah skipped again]
Donors and volunteers brought the first books for the book shelves on Satuday: One can now find 55 books already, and there is space for rougly 300 pieces."
