Fraunces Tavern, owned by Sons of the Revolution, played an important role both before and during the American Revolutionary War. The Tavern was even damaged by a British cannonball during the War.

The owners of this tavern claim it is the oldest standing building in New York City...built in 1719.
The tavern sign has two different depictions on either side. One side portrays a revolutionary soldier holding a musket and the other has a profile of George Washington.
