he Verrazano-Narrows Bridge, at the time of it's completion in 1964, was the longest suspension bridge in the world. Now it is the 11th, but it is the longest in North and South America.

A major interstate goes on the bridge that helps serves commutes and travels get in to the city from Staten Island. For many, this is a by pass of the city for people going to New England from Baltimore/D.C. or Philadelphia. The bridge has two towers, on which the wight of the entire bridge is held up by. All boats from Europe or South America that are entering the New York Port must pass under the bridge in order to reach the docks. The bridge spans over four thousand feet. On clear days you can see the greatest city in the world, New York!
