The Whaley House is a one a and a half story Greek Revival home. John A. Whaley, a pioneer settler from New York, built this home in 1855 at a location about a block and a half to the west of here. An open veranda, supported by four tapered posts on square piers, extends across the front of the houseMrs Whaley sold the home in 1899 following the death of her husband in 1888. In 1903 the house was moved to this location. The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places on December 31, 1979.
