The Stone House is a fine Victorian two and a half story house which displays the identifying features of the style: multiple rooflines, corner tower, gables with pediments, bay windows, projecting upper story, and a variety of textures and wall surfaces.
The Stone House was built in 1888 by Arcata’s first banker, Wesley Whipple Stone, who came to Arcata in 1886 and opened the Bank of Arcata. The house has had a series of owners since it was sold in 1928 following Mr. Stone’s death. The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places on February 27, 1986.
