The vane sheet bears the name of the manufacturer, Southern Cross, which was a foundry in Toowoomba, Queensland established in 1871. The company is still in existence today but the foundry has closed & the windmills are manufactured overseas. Prior to its closure the foundry had produced over 200,000 windmills which are scattered throughout Australia & the world, many still in operation. This one though no longer pumps water.
