The Sooke Marine Boardwalk officially opened on March 18, 2008. This 315 metre boardwalk is elevated high above the waters of Sooke Harbour and runs for most of its length parallel to the shoreline 30-40 metres out. The southwest end is connected to Ed Macgregor Park by a long, zig-zagging ramp that allows wheelchairs to easily get from the top of the slope down to the boardwalk. Interpretive signs placed along the railings describe local marine life. The Olympic/Paralympic Live Sites Program, a funding program related to the 2010 Olympic Games held in British Columbia, contributed about a third of the $1,000,000 cost to build the boardwalk.
Length: 315 m
