Publishing since 1930, the newspaper celebrated their 80th anniversary in 2010. The Capital News today publishes three editions a week - Tuesday, Thursday and Friday with a circulation of 53,000 to homes and businesses in Kelowna and surrounding communities of Peachland, Lake Country and the Westside. The first issue was published in August of 1930, with a run of 1,700 copies.

They rely entirely on advertising and want ads for revenue, but this was not always the case. At some time in the past the newspaper changed from a pay per copy to a free newspaper.
