The courtyard with this clock also has a monument to Francis I, the last Holy Roman Emperor. See (visit link)

This clock is set near the top of the roof of one of the facades of the Hofburg Palace. Notice that there is also a little ball above it that turns to inform us whether it is day or night with sunlight and stars alternatively. Also below is a sundial.
