Die Förmitztalsperre ist ein Bauwerk, das im Jahr 1977 fertiggestellt wurde. Der Hauptzweck stellt die Wasserregulierung der Saale dar, um einerseits im Sommer Niedrigwasser zu vermeiden, oder bei Hochwasserlagen Wasser zurückzuhalten. Als Nebeneffekt wurden einige Freizeiteinrichtungen mit aufgebaut.
The Förmitztalsperre is a waterdam, which was completed in 1977. The main purpose is the water regulation of the Saale, on the one hand to avoid the summer low water, or withhold in flood situations, water. As a side effect of some recreational facilities were built in that area.
