The trail hugs the shoreline as it travels from Carpenter Creek, near the centre of New Denver, north past the end of town to Bigelow Bay. An easy trail with little elevation change, it has several entrance points within the village. As one follows the trail, it will afford wonderful views of Slocan Lake.

Parking is available on the street or in a small lot near the given coords.

The park was created to allow more beach access for the community, which it does. There is a length of gravel beach and a diving platform available just offshore. As well, there is a walking path which heads north from the park past the site of an old abandoned mine on the lakeshore. As the sign attests, this beach has no lifeguard. There is a good sized parking lot adjacent to the beach access. A natural wilderness park, it has no other facilities.

"Bigelow Bay Regional Park, located on Slocan Lake immediately adjacent to the northern boundary of the Village of New Denver, is leased by the Regional District and managed by the Regional District’s Slocan Lake Recreation Commission. The park is used for beach recreation activities and classified as a waterfront access park."
