The former Mayor of Vila Franca de Xira, Maria da Luz Rosinha, inaugurated the new leisure area of Povoa de Santa Iria em 2013.
It´s a huge area, filled with amenities to both young and not so young people, like a skate park, a outdoor gym, a museum, a large green area for non professional sports and a sidewalk by the river.

Was born in Vila Franca de Xira on May 13 , 1948.
Former leader of the Young Christian Workers of the Municipality of Vila Franca de Xira , which integrated from 13 to 22 years old .
Militant of the Socialist Party since May 1, 1975 .
Mayor since 1976 , serving on the City Council of Vila Franca de Gaia , Assembly and Board of Parish of Vila Franca de Xira.
Chairman of the Political Committee of the Socialist Party district council of Vila Franca de Xira, where , previously , had played the role of coordinator of this section of the parish.
A member of the Policy FAUL ( Federation of the Urban Area of ??Lisbon Socialist Party ) .
Member of the National Committee of the Socialist Party .
Candidate to parliament in 1991 and 1995 , where she took over as deputy from 27 October 1995 to 5 January 1998 and , in that context , performed the following functions :
Coordinator of the Parliamentary Committee on PS Parity , Equal Opportunities and Family ;
Member of the Parliamentary Committee on Labour , Solidarity and Social Security ;
Member of the Parliamentary Commission for Monitoring Possible " Addiction , Drug Trafficking and Consumption ."

Parque Urbano da Póvoa de Santa Iria:
Comprises the museum center "Póvoa and the River", a cafeteria, as well as the pier and storage to support fishing Avieira community. Have leisure areas, a playground, informal outdoor amphitheater and sports area and maintenance, particularly with outdoor gym, beach volleyball and a skate park.
The Riverside Linear Park Tagus Estuary:
Includes the Interpretation Centre for Environment and Landscape and a cafeteria. The park also contains the area known as "Praia dos Pescadores", with large recreational areas, picnic area and sports area.
The two parks are connected by pedestrian and bike trails and extend to Forte da Casa and to the Verdelha area, next to the parish of Alverca.
