The ore car began its life carrying material out of mines in the Yucca Valley. Today it rests on a segment of two-foot gauge mining track in Pioneertown, adding to the Old West atmosphere of the 1880s. Note the wide wheels which held the car fast to sometimes distorted rails spaced between 23 and 25 inches. Pioneertown was created in the early 1950s as a backdrop for Western films and television serials.
