Roku 1859 byl zahájen provoz na železnicní trati z Liberce pres Hrádek nad Nisou do nemecké Žitavy. Z této doby pochází i zdejší nádraží. Trat 089 dnes vede v úseku Liberec - Hrádek nad Nisou - Žitava - Varnsdorf, zde se trat delí na vetve do Rybnište a nemeckého Seifhennersdorfu. V Hrádku staví osobní vlaky z Liberce do Rybnište, resp. Seifhennersdorfu i spešné vlaky z Tanvaldu pres Liberec do Dráždan, které provozují Ceské dráhy.

In 1859 was launched the railway line from Liberec via Hradek nad Nisou to the German town of Zittau. From this period comes the station. Route 089 leads today from Liberec - Hradek nad Nisou - Zittau - Varnsdorf, here is the track divides into branches to Rybnište a German Seifhennersdorf. In Hrádek stop passenger trains from Liberec to Rybnište, respectively. Seifhennersdorf and express trains from Tanvaldu over Liberec in Dresden, operated by Czech Railways.
