Located just off Upper Soda Rd is a trailhead known as Upper Soda Springs Trail. There is a plaque on a boulder near the trailhead that reads:

Upper Soda Springs Trail

Another Project to Improve California River Parkways
funded by the 2002 Resource Bond

Mike Chrisman, Secretary for Resources

ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER, GOVERNOR

Constructed by the Upper Sacramento River Exchange,
in partnership with the City of Dunsmuir
and California Department of Fish and Game

This trail is paved asphalt for most, if not all the length of the trail that loops around very tall concrete columns of the Interstate-5 bridge that zooms with traffic overhead. The trail also follows the Sacramento River, providing a nice scenic view. There is also a historical marker just across the road from this trailhead and highlights the history of this area where the first settlers into Dunsmuir camped and eventually grew as a town. It can be visited here.
