Thomas Becket was Archbishop of Canterbury from 1162 until 1170 so it is not surprising to find a pub bearing his name in Canterbury.
The sign hangs from the wall of the pub and has the shape of a shield and has a white background. An intricate gold circle fills most of the shield and the inside of this is given the effect of a stained glass window showing an image that is probably Becket. The name of the pub is curved along the bottom of the shield and is painted in gold with a black, scroll background.
