I was able to gain very little information on Leifson but found a web page that stated he was born on October 1, 1897. Sigmund died on February 1984 at 86 years of age. I also discovered a scholarship called the Hedvig and Sigmund W. Leifson Scholarship and was established to assist students who show a high promise for contributing to the field of physics. College students must be a physics major, junior or senior standing, a full-time student, and show scholastic excellence.
