The neon sign for the 1950s Lazy KT Motel appears as old as the motel itself -- but it isn't. :( Blasterz have found som old postcards from the 1950s showing the vintage sign, This is still a neon sign and it still appears to us to work, but the horse is new.
This motel appears to us to pre-date the Interstate Highway System. A bit if research proves that the Lazy KT and its artistic vintage sign (now located on the business route of the I-90), was formerly located on the US 212, which was the successor numbered highway to the famous Glacier to Gulf Auto Route of the 1920s that carried tourists back and forth between Yellowstone National Park and the Texas Gulf Coast. See (

Anyhoo -- when the Lazy KT Motel was built the Glacier to Gulf auto route was history, replaced by the US 212, which was replaced by the I-90 business. Even though it is no longer on the main road into Billings, the lazy KT continues to operate as a motel, serving the budget-conscious traveler with basic rooms at a good value.
