Pioneertown was started in 1946 as a living studio, providing a backdrop for films and television serials set in the Old West of the 1870s. This steel-wheeled wagon was likely a covered wagon but the canvas is no longer intact. The wagon rests on the north side of Mane Street, east of Tom Mix Road. Before being retired to this spot in a desert setting, the wagon had an active career on screen in productions such as the first seasons of "The Gene Autry Show" (1950 and 1951).
