This Museum describes the history of the Bentel Tobacco Company, and the history of tobacco production, and certainly distribution, in Java. This dates back to colonial days.
The Museum is well laid out, in fact the most modern museum I have seen so far in Java, and well staffed. The history of tobacco, in all its myriad forms and guises, its development and marketing, from farm to consumer, is fully described, with artefacts, posters, and plaques. The Museum stresses how the industry helps and aids farmers, brining prosperity to all. Photography is allowed, in fact, encouraged.
If you are a foreigner visiting, expect a big smile, and your photo taken with the staff. Entry is free, though you are asked to sign the visitors book. Apparently, few visitors.
Around town the Museum is referred to as the "Cigarette Museum".
