It is situated on the corner of Ivegate and Tyrell Street. Ivegate is one of the oldest streets in the centre of Bradford. As the city grew from a small town to a city during the Industrial Revolution this area became the centre of commerce.
This history website about
Bradford tells us "the building is currently occupied by TSB (a bank).
Originally it was George Thorpe's Drapers Store and was one of the first shops in Bradford to use electric light for display purposes. George Thorpe had Ardenlea, Ilkley built for him in 1881".
