The signage explains why this wetland reserve is important and what plants and wildlife can be found here.
As this small swampy wetland lies at the mouth of the Rapanui Stream, the predominant plants are Raupo and Carex grass. The threatened Spotless Crake is found here and the threatened Australasian Bittern also frequents this site.
The signage placed by the Taranaki Regional Council encourages us to enjoy and protect this special area but it also reminds us to please not enter the wetland area or disturb the wildlife.
