A small pedestal on the path the the 1885 Bread of Life Church recalls the first non-Roman Catholic church service in Bismarck.

The marker reads as follows:

"May 8, 1873

May 8, 1960

The First non-Roman Church service to be held in what is now Bismarck was the baptism of a son of Lt. Humbert of Camp Hancock by the Rev. J. Swift, an Episcopalian Missionary.

This marked the beginning of Episcopalian services in the area.

Dedicated May 8, 1960
