Cpl. Harlon Henry Block was one of the six men who were immortalized in Associated Press photographer Joe Rosenthal's photo of the United States Flag raising on Mount Suribachi, Iwo Jima on February 23, 1945. Block is the one closest to the bottom of the flagstaff.
