The plaque beneath the flame reads as follows:
SONDRE NORGEIM ETERNAL FLAME
Five aluminum skis, symbolic of the five Scandinavian countries, support a world globe which represents the many contributions to the sport of skiing that Sondre Norheim gave to the world.
Norheim, called “The father of Modern-Day Skiing,” was born in Morgedal, Norway, immigrated to America and is buried at Denbigh ND.
Major funding by Montana-Dakota Lumber Co., other contributors are recognized on the Wall of Honor or in the Golden Book of Memory.
