The First Christian Church in Edmond is a long-standing congregation, originally organized in 1899 and at this location since 1947. The church serves the community in many ways, and Sharla Griffin was a active, integral part of its ministries.
On the west side of the church in a small garden area is a stone sculpture of an angel, who is holding a rose in her left hand, and a bowl in her right. She is looking solemnly at a concrete marker at her feet on which is written in a child's hand:
2008
For my guardian
angel Sharla Kay
Griffin. I love you
Grandma, Kayt
Beneath these words are the imprints of a child's hands and feet.
Some women are famous for the achievements they've accomplished, the positions they've held, or the honors they've received. Some women are remembered as a loving Grandma. Such is Sharla Kay Griffin.
