The San Diego Botanical Gardens was once known as the Quail Botanical Gardensand beyond its preservation of varied plantlife, the Gardens also have an area set aside as a "Native Plants and Native Peoples Trail". Along that trail are several placards which inform us about the Kumeyaay way of life including a replica hut known as an "'ewaa" and a set of original metates known here as 'ehmuu.
