San Antonio de Pala Asistencia is a "sub-Mission" intended to assist Mission San Luis Rey...but in fact, San Antonio de Pala is the only original Mission still operating for its original purpose.

A curiously placed relief panel is located to the left of the arched brick gate to the parking area behind the Mission. The relief depicts a friar leading an ox on a path pass a huge tree with a Mission church in the background.
Unfortunately there is no sign at the site indicating the artist, title or date.
