A large boulder with a bronze plaque sits in the middle of Boulevard des Provenchers in front of the gorgeous St. Boniface City Hall, recognizing the municipal beautification efforts and generosity of John Boily.

The plaque on the boulder reads follows:

"1902 – JOHN BOILY – 1977
(Born Dimitro Dooda)

Who donated to the City of St. Boniface this beautiful row of flowering trees and maintained it at his own expense for the Citizens of Saint Boniface

Qui a doté la ville de St. Boniface de cette magnifique alee d’arbres florifères et la maintenue a ses propres frais pour les citoyens de Saint Boniface"

Boily beautified and cared for garden areas all over Winnipeg and St. Boniface. In 1970 he received the Manitoba Centennial Medal for his city beautification work.
