St Peters main entrance is via a double 8 panel wood door recessed and protected by a small portico. Granite steps lead up to a gable end portico with cross at the peak supported by 2 doric columns. The main part of the building is red brick with granite trim.
In 1884 St Peter's Catholic Church was formed to provide a separate church for the growing Catholic population in this section of Worcester. Rev H. O'Neil was appointed to form the parish. On June 6, 1884 ground was broken, in Sept of 1884 the cornerstone was laid and the church was completed in 1893.
The church was designed by P.W.Ford of Boston, who designed a large number of Worcester's Roman Catholic Churches. It is predominately Victorian Gothic and build on red brick with granite trim. It is one of the most ornate church buildings in Worcester.
