Located on the University of Nevada, Reno campus is a fir tree that contains a monumented plaque on top of a small boulder near its base that reads:
IN MEMORY OF DOUGLAS P. RENNIE 1957 1988 |
I tried to do some research online on Douglas Rennie and the only info I could obtain were some PDF documents highlighting a (graduate thesis?) research publication that discusses the existence of a Pluvial Lake in Fish Lake Valley Nevada and California. The argument of the existence of this lake culminated in the informal naming of this lake called Pluvial Lake Rennie in honor of Douglas P. Rennie, who gave his help and companionship in the field during 1987 and 1988 before his untimely death in a car accident. The research paper goes on to say "...
He must be excited to know where the early discoveries of mysteriously thick tephra layers in Fish Lake Valley have led us."
