The giant ghostly ham at 185 Bannatyne in downtown Winnipeg caught our eye -- how could it not??

This giant ham ghost sign is on the side of the building at 185 Bannatyne St in the Winnipeg Exchange District. It shares the building with J. W. MacDonald Auto Service, Bone Sales Ltd (furniture) and Cavalier Candles (candles and candy).

SX brand canned hams were apparently fairly widespread -- we were able to find a 1964 grocery store advert from Tonawanda NY advertising the SX 1-1/2 pound ham for $1.39 -- not bad! (visit link)

Blasterz think that the faded ghost under the ham is an advert for SX lard - a companion product that was often advertised together with the meats.
