This old water pump is in the Loon Lake Cemetery, on Loon Lake Cemetery Road, which runs east off Highway 395 from the north east corner of the lake.

When this pump was placed here and the well dug is anybody's guess. Why, is probably to provide funeral goers with a supply of water. There is a sign on the pump, though, indicating that the water isn't that great. It is about 20 feet south of the main trail through the centre of the cemetery, near the centre west entrance.
The pump itself is a small counter top type pump set upon a large, possibly 12", casing extending about 3 feet above ground level. The pump works like a charm and issues forth a copious rivulet of water after just a few pumps of the handle, suggesting that the well is not terribly deep. There were no maker marks and the handle support has been broken and welded, not long ago, as that piece is the only one with newer paint.
