Before the Manitoba Provincial Capitol Building stood here, this land was the site of a garrison of the Royal Canadian Dragoons.
On the 100th anniversary of their organization, the Royal Canadian Dragoons had a plaque installed in the 2nd floor hallway of the Capitol, near the Legislative Library.
The text on the marker reads as follows:
"1883 - 1983
This Centennial Plaque was placed by the Royal Canadian Dragoons at this 1885-1898 garrison site."
