This time capsule was buried on 26 January 1989, as part of Australia's bicentennial year making 200 years of colonisation by England (note: the bicentenary was 1988). The capsule is located in the town's park and playground, known as Tony Onions Park.
It was one of many time capsules buried across Australia during the bicentenary, and is to be unearthed in the year 2038.
The plaque reads:
