In South Kingstown, within the Thurston Pond National Wildlife Refuge, is this You Are Here sign.
The refuge is located along the beautiful and relatively undeveloped south coast of Rhode Island. From US Route 1, look for the sign for Trustom NWR and go south on Moonstone Beach Road to the junction with Matunuck School House Road. Take a right onto this road to the entrance and parking lot.
From the parking lot, there is a small nature center where the main path begins. There is at least one similar sign on the way, so do your best in figuring out how to get to this sign. There are two main loops and a couple branch trails.
The refuge is one of several along the coast to protect salt-fresh water bodies along the coast for duck migration stops and habitats, as well as preservation of the fragile ecosystems here.
It is well worth a couple hours to walk in this wodnderful landscape.
