Built around 1868, this two-story woodframe house has both Stick and Queen Anne features. It has clapboard siding and corner boards with a balustraded porch along the north facade. The house was built for Thomas G. and Lucinda Williams Reames. Mr. Reames moved to Jacksonville in 1864, was elected Deputy Sheriff, and married Lucinda two years later. He was a leading businessman, purchasing a livery stable and establishing a general merchandise business near the town of Phoenix. He later opened a prominent general merchandise store with his brother in downtown Jacksonville. In the late 1880s he partnered with C.C. Beekman in the banking business, acquiring large land holdings. Today the Reames house is a bed & breakfast. It is considered a historic contributing structure in the Jacksonville National Historic District.
