Over 400 years ago, a flood destroyed the only bridge in Forbach. Zimmermann people were sent to Augsburg, there to visit the model of a flood-proof suspension bridge.

However, 200 years later, in 1778 the construction of a covered wooden bridge was realized without the central pillar.
This bridge turn held nearly 200 years and was in 1954/55 demolished and rebuilt according to the original plans.

Responsible for the maintenance of the bridge the communities Forbach, Bermersbach and Gausbach were ( = the " Forbach parish ").
