In this odd-combination of businesses, visitors will find the City Hall and city administration offices for the city of Dawsonville, Georgia in the back offices, while the front portion houses the official home of the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame Museum.
This odd-combination came about when the City of Dawsonville obtained ownership of the defunct tourist attraction called Thunder Road, and converted the building to house the City Hall and racing museum, which was opened in 2007. The museum is a full 40,000 square feet and has extensive displays and a theater room. Several famous Georgian racers are honored including Bill Elliott, Gober Sosebee, Raymond Parks, Mickey Swims, Jim Mosteller and Bud Lunsford.
