This brick-built church, which was built to serve as a Chapel-of-ease to Longdon, was officially opened on 28th August 1837 by the then Bishop of Lichfield. The congregation came from Gentleshaw, Cannock Wood and the Beaudesert Estate.
In the late 1850s the embattled tower was added which contains the bell which hung in the old belfry. The church was restored in 1875 and extended in 1903.
