EN: Sebastian Chapel is located at Sebastian Square in the old town of Brig. It was built in the years 1636/37 by the architect N. Bodmer, who was strongly influenced on Italian archetypes.
Inside there is an altarpiece by Lorenz Justin Ritz from the year 1837. The Baroque statues in the niches of the main facade represent the Saints Leodegar and Jerome.
The commemoration day of St. Sebastian, the 20th January, is celebrated particularly solemn each year.
DE: Die Sebastianskapelle befindet sich am Sebastiansplatz in der Altstadt von Brig. Sie wurde in den Jahren 1636/37 vom Baumeister N. Bodmer erbaut, der sich stark an italienischen Vorbildern orientierte.
Im Innern befindet sich ein Altarbild von Lorenz Justin Ritz aus dem Jahr 1837. Die Barockstatuen in den Nischen der Hauptfassade stellen die Heiligen Leodegar und Hieronymus dar.
Der Namenstag des Patrons, der 20. Januar, wird jeweils besonders feierlich begangen.
