This pipe-eating tree is among four conifers that are located at the southern portion of the University of Nevada, Reno campus. There are also four metal pipes that protrude from the ground next to each tree. What purpose these pipes served, I don't know. This particular tree is the only one of the four hungry enough to slowly swallow the base of this pipe. Give it another 30-40 years and I would bet the whole base of the pipe will be surrounded by the base of this tree.

Type of Tree: Conifer - Fir?
