Mr. Sackett died aged 21 on 15 February 1979. The plaque is simply worded " To Remember Stephen Ross Sackett 21 Years Died Bushfire Fighting 15-2-1979".

The tree is surrounded by bush rocks & its growth has suffered from the harsh Australian conditions & poor soil.
