This strikingly somber memorial reminds us of the senseless tragedy, loss, and heroism of war. It occupies a place of pride in the middle of Rue Provencher, the main street of St Boniface, across from the Belgian Club, the home of Royal Canadian Legion branch #107.
The text on the five plaques (four original to the dedication of the monument, the other detailing its restoration) read as follows:
