Der Bahnhof wurde im Juni 1847 eröffnet für die Bahnstrecke Speyer- Heidelberg. Nach der Zerstörung der Bahnbrücke 1945 wurde diese Linie eingestellt. Das Bahnhofsgebäude wurde ebenfalls zertört und erst 1953 wieder aufgebaut. 2009 fand die letzte Sanierung statt.
The station was opened in June 1847 to connect Speyer with Heidelberg via a railway bridge over the river Rhine. The bridge was destroyed 1945 in the WWII. The station building was attacked, too, the current building was rebuilt in 1953 and renovated in 2009.
