De Gerbrandy toren in IJsselstein, Utrecht, The Netherlands is lit from about 7 December to 6 January as though it were a Christmas tree.
For this purpose, extra guy wires are constructed on which a large number of lamps are attached that are lit during the hours of darkness.
Since 1992 this has been shown annually, with the exception of 1995 (technical problems), 1999 and 200 (excessive cost), 2002 (repair work), 2006 (organizational problems) and 2011 (repairs due to a previous fire).
