The Garbage Goat was created for Expo '74 to aid in keeping the grounds clear of debris. It was correctly believed that kids could easily be enticed to feed the goat their garbage.

Actually a large vacuum cleaner within and behind the body of a goat, the Garbage Eating Goat was conjured by Sister Paula Turnbull, a Catholic nun, for Expo ‘74 as a recycling/environment statement.

Sister Turnbull is well known in the northwest and has been decorating it for over 50 years with her art. This and Australian Sundial, another of her works, are two of the stops on the Spokane Sculpture Walk.
